BNYS -(Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science)

Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science (BNYS) is an undergraduate degree focussing on naturopathy and the use of yoga in treating bodily ailments. Naturopathy can also be called an alternative form of medicine that does not use drugs or medicines to heal or prevent. Thus, it is often non-invasive and also non-prescriptive. On the other hand, yoga uses the techniques of breathing, meditation and asanas to do the same

Course Outline

BNYS is a 4.5-year course along with an internship for 1 year and those who have finished class 12 with PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) as the subjects. 

A naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine that believes that the cause of all disease is the induction of foreign material in the body. It aims to heal the body through its own healing process, also called 'self-healing'. 

Some therapies employed in the process include acupuncture, massage, and nutritional counselling among others. Yogic sciences, on the other hand, studies the use of yoga to provide a healthy stable life. It mainly uses asanas, meditation and breathing exercises to do this. The BNYS degree focuses on these topics and their application in today's world. This is only a foundation course from which graduates can further specialize.

Admission Process

Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Science: Admission Process

  • There are two forms of admission depending on the college - merit-based or NEET based
  • The general process involves submitting the required documents like the class 10 mark sheet, application form, other documents as stipulated
  • Candidates are then shortlisted, either on the basis of the Class 12 result or on the basis of the NEET result
  • They may also be asked to appear for an interview

  • The only eligibility requirement is to have passed class 12 with PCB as subjects and at least 50% marks
  • Depending on the college, NEET may also be a requirement
Entrance Exams

Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Science: Entrance Exams

  • The only entrance exam which colleges accept for BNYS is NEET
  • While the date for the 2021 exam is yet to be announced, the exam is a pen and paper based one
  • It lasts 3 hours and consists of MCQs, with total marks of 720
  • There are four sections in the exam:
    • Physics - 180 marks
    • Chemistry - 180 marks 
    • Biology (Botany and Zoology) - 360 marks
  • There are 4 marks for each correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer. Unattempted questions are awarded zero marks.
  • The exam is conducted on an OMR sheet. The important thing to remember about such exams is to use only a black or blue ballpoint pen. The candidate must fill in the circle completely and no question should have two circled options. It is always a good idea to fill out the answers that one is unsure of with pencil
